ABA Travel 2026: Pacific Northwest shorebirds and seabirds

The Pacific Northwest Shorebirds & Seabirds trip was great.  The combination of field trips  and workshops was a good mix.  Our leader and guide did a wonderful job.  Thanks for a fantastic time. 

A well planned trip and good adjustment when the pelagic trip changed dates.  Really enjoyed the blend of trips and lectures.  Katinka and Charlie were organized and congenial.  Can't praise Charlie enough - a rare blend of expert and teacher!

The only negatives I have are that the meeting place prior to departure didn't actually exist as described and the van was way to small, especially, but not limited to, the times when the luggage was included.  Everything else was wonderful and out weigh the negatives.  Katinka did a great job rescheduling when our planned pelagic trip had to be cancelled.  Charlie was brilliant.  Thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

Trip was well planned and well executed. It met and exceeded all expectations. Both trip leaders worked really hard to make it successful.

Join the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.aba.org/american-birding-association/">American Birding Association</a> (ABA) and the Youth Members of the Maryland Ornithological Society (YMOS) for a welcoming morning of birding at the beautiful Hazel Outdoor Discovery Center (HODC) in Eden, Maryland, during the MOS Convention. This birding field trip is open to birders of every experience level, from first-time birders to seasoned enthusiasts, ages 8 and up. The walk will be led by experienced young birders who have developed their skills through local and national birding communities, offering participants the opportunity to experience birding through the eyes of the next generation of birding leaders. Adult mentors will be present to provide logistical support, participant safety, and guidance while allowing the young leaders to take the lead. The <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.hazeloutdoors.org/">Hazel Outdoor Discovery Center</a> was the vision of Richard F. Hazel, Eastern Shore philanthropist and former president of the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Salisbury. His passion for connecting people with nature lives on through this remarkable 500-acre private property of forests, fields, and farm roads.Together, we'll explore a variety of habitats in search of migrating songbirds, raptors, and other wildlife while enjoying a relaxed, community-focused morning outdoors.
