About your trip

Spend the weekend birding with the American Birding Association in San Francisco, CA!

On Sat. morning, Nov. 22, we will bird the historic Fort Mason in search of late migrants and wintering birds in the gardens and along the bay. After a quick lunch on your own, we will meet up for an afternoon presentation on Bird-Safe Buildings with Glenn Phillips, Executive Director of Golden Gate Bird Alliance. Join us in the early evening for a Birder Social at San Francisco Brewing Co. where you can enjoy great food and drinks, catch up with local birders, make plans for your next birdwatching adventure, and meet new friends

On Sun. morning, Nov. 23, we will visit Golden Gate Park to explore the area around Blue Heron Lake and Strawberry Hill where we will look for wintering ducks and resident birds. We will wrap up the weekend with a presentation by ABA's own Ioana Seritan and Kelly Smith to chat about What's Going on at the ABA.

All bird walks, talks, and workshops are free and open to the public, but we do ask you to register for the weekend's activities you intend to participate in (with cash bar/food during the evening social). The ABA’s bird-friendly Song Bird Coffee will be served before and after each bird walk.

We are grateful for the support of Vortex Optics, who are providing a variety of binoculars for participants to use during our field trips. There are limited binoculars available for loan, and we will distribute them on a first-come first-served basis, so sharing might be needed and appreciated.

Come join us for another fun-filled birding weekend! You’ll meet great people, see amazing birds, and pick up new tips along the way. Sign up today and be part of the adventure!

About your organizer

The ABA exists to build a better world by sharing the positive values and irresistible excitement of birding. We are a connector for all birders where they will feel part of a community, interact with fellow birders, and make fulfilling relationships with each other and nature. We provide resources to our members and the birding community at large on our website, through our print publications, our podcast, in-person events, festivals, and tours, partnerships, and ABA Community network. Wherever you find birders, you’ll find ABA.
